Why Do People Find It Difficult to Discuss Their Faith (Religion) or Political Affiliation/Inclination?
I have travelled extensively around countries classified as"Western" , "Advanced" or "Developed", and one thing still strikes me: people find it difficult discussing their religious beliefs and political affiliations and inclinations. I am wondering what people think, and if people have had similar experiences. And if you are one of these people, what is your reason for keeping your religious and political beliefs secret? Your take on this would help inform my ignorance and educate my curiosity.

I don't know whether this really answers your question, but i feel that a lot of people avoid discussing religion or politics because it often leads to arguments when religions or political philosophies have different perspectives on issues. Certain topics can invoke very emotional repsonses, like abortion or gay rights. I have always found that it is much easier to discuss religion or politics with moderate individuals, it seems that the more people are devoted to their particular belief system, the more argumentative they will be to defend/promote their view.

You are quite right. Moderates are more responsive to divergent views, while extremist/fundamentalists/conservatives can be very rigid with their views. Good point you have raised.
